The CIA2 wing of the Bathinda Police on Wednesday arrested the kingpin of a snatchers gang, active in the city for the past few weeks and involved in nearly a dozen incidents of snatching. The accused has been identified as Dharampal Singh, a resident of Multania village. He was arrested form the Beer road area near Gourav Enclave. The police have also recovered seven mobile phones and one mototcycle from him. Addressing mediapersons, DSP Investigation Karansher Singh said Tarjinder Singh, in-charge of the CIA2 wing, received a tip off about Dharampal and his aide Lovejeet Singh, a resident of Lal Singh Basti. The DSP claimed that a police team conducted a raid at Beer road and arrested Dharmapal Singh. Tarjinder Singh said the accused used to snatch mobile phones to make easy money. The police have also booked Lovejeet Singh. A case under Section 379B and 411 of IPC has been registered at the Canal Colony police station. Meanwhile the police also arrested two persons and recovered three stolen motorcycle and 500 intoxicant pills. DSP Investigation Karansher Singh said acting on a tip off the police party of the CIA2 wing set up a naka on the Bathinda Talwandi Sabo road and arrested Balvir Singh alias Mottu and Sony Singh, both residents of Rori village in Sirsa Haryana. They were held with a stolen motorcycle PB 30P 6533. During interrogation, the police recovered two more motorcycles, which were stolen by the accused from Talwandi Sabo and Sardoolgarh.
