The Special Task Force (STF) for drugs today arrested three persons with 110 gm of heroin from Joganand village. The accused were trying to send the heroin inside the Central Jail in Bathinda through an electrician. The Central Jail has been situated at Gobindpura village, 18 km from Bathinda. The accused identified as Kulwinder Singh Kala, a resident of Gidderbaha in Mukatsar district, Binder Singh, a resident of Panniwala village, and Balwinder Singh Binder a resident of Balahar Mehama village have been booked under the NDPS Act at the Nathana police station. Addressing mediapersons, Special Task Force DSP Harinder Singh Maan said, We received a tip-off regarding the accused who wanted to send the heroin inside the Central Jail. Balwinder Singh Binder works as an electrician at the jail. AS we received a tip-off a team led by Inspector Jasveer Sing and ASI Parminder Singh set up a naka ar Jail Road in Joganand village. The accused were coming towards the jail. As they saw the police party, they attempted to flee but the STF team nabbed them. Maan said during checking, 110 gm of heroin was recovered from the accused and the police had also taken their bikes in custody. Maan said during primary investigation, the accused admitted that they were trying to send the heroin inside the jail. Rajdeep Singh, a resident of Khunike village, who was an undertrial prisoner in the jail had allegedly told his brother-in-law Kulwinder Singh ,who was arrested today, to send the heroin inside the jail. The accused got hte heroin from New Delhi. Our investigation is going on and the accused would be produced in the court tomorrow. We will seek his remand, the DSP said. With the arrest of the electrician, the STF have got a lead about intoxicating recovered from the jail in the past. The Nathana police have many pending cases of intoxicants recovered form the jail. DSP Maan said, Soon a team of STF will go to Delhi for further investigation.
