The peddling of illicit liquor form Haryana to Punjab has picked up in the last two days after the situation returned to normal in Punjab and Haryana. No incident of peddling of illicit liquor had been due to tight security arrangements by the police and paramilitaries forces. Eleven cases under the Excise Act have been reported in the last 48 hours in Bathinda district. Two major cases were reported in the last 25 hours as 43 boxes of Haryana labelled illicit liquor recovered from two cars by the Nehianwala and Talwandi Sabo police, respectively. In the first incident, the Nehianwala police seized 19 boxes of illicit liquor from a car during the nakabandi at Jeeda village. The accused absconding leaving his car on the spot. The Nehianwala police have registered a case under the Excise Act against absconding accused Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Niyoor village. Investigating Officer Nirmal Singh said during the nakabandi when the police signaled him to stop the car (HR-70-1489)and the accused, Lovepreet, stopped the car and absconded. The police recovered 19 boxes of illicit liquor from the car. We have started proceedings for the arrest of the accused. As per same, the Talwandi Sabo police have recovered 24 boxes of illicit liquor form a Tavera car (HR -55D-9667) during a nakabandi at Talwandi Sabo and the accused, indentified as Gurpreet Singh of Giyana village. Investigation Officer Kuldeep Singh said the accused would be arrested soon. The Nathana police have recovered 350 litre of lahan form Bhucho Kanchian (300 litre) and Poohli village (50 litre) and booked two accused and both have absconding to see police parties. Booked accused have identified as Goldy a resident of Lehra Mohhabat village and Makhan Singh a resident of Navi Basti, Poohli village and booked under Excise Act at the Nathana police station. The Diyalpura police have arrested Avtar Singh, a resident of Kotha Guru Ka village, with 204 bottles of illicit liquor form his village. The Raman police have arrested Charanjeet Singh, a resident of Sukhladhi village, with 50 kg of lahan form his house. The Raman police also arrested Jasveer Singh and Baggar Singh, residents of Tarkhanwala village, with 30 bottles of illicit liquor. The Raman police have arrested Hardev Singh, a resident of Dhaani village, as the police party seized 300 litre lahan, one bottle of illicit liquor and working still. The Maur police have arrested Major Singh a resident of Maur Mandi with 15 bottles of illicit liquor from Maur Mandi with 15 bottles of illicit liquor form Maur Mandi and also recovered 30 lites of lahan from Ramnagar village and a case has been registered against Keema Singh a resident of Ramnagar, who was absconding as police party raided in his home. The Phul police have recovered 20 litres of illicit liquor from Harnam Singh wala village and arrested Jantta Singh a resident of Harnam Singh Wala village. The City Rampura police have recovered 65 kg of lahan form Mehraj village and arrested Jasveer Singh a resident of Mehraj village. All above accused have booked under various sections of the Excise Act.
